Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Crestwood Memorial Chapel for Bertha Spinks, born Jan. 13, 1924. Bertha went to be with her heavenly Father peacefully on Feb. 17, 2009, surrounded by her family. The Rev. Ray Stonecypher will officiate. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will be in charge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Spinks; mother and father, RJ and Arretta Barber; sister, Mary Evelyn Givens; great-grandson, Derrick Watts; son-in-law, Dave Rigley; and stepson, Michael Spinks.
Mrs. Spinks is survived her children, Jack (Margie) Fendley, James Fendley, Bobby (Diane) Fendley, Dianne Rigley and Nancy (Don) Mell; sister, Willie Jo (Freddie) Copeland; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Singleton. She had 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Before moving to Michigan, Bertha was a member of Bachelors Chapel Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.
Pallbearers will be Neal Fendley, Donald Joffrion, Josh Lackey, Jimmy Fendley, Rhett Calhoun and Timothy Beck.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 this evening.
