A memorial service will be held at 3 pm December 7,2025 at North Gadsden Church of God for Murlene Sims, age 84, of Gadsden, passed away on December 1, 2025.
Murlene will be remembered for her generous spirit and the joy she found in helping others. She was always busy—whether working as a dedicated hairdresser or serving her community as a tax appraiser. She loved traveling, especially cruises, Las Vegas, and casinos. Murlene truly embraced life, but her greatest love was always her family. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
Murlene was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Sims; daughters, Charlene Sims and Maxine Jones; son, Mike Sims; sister, Glenice Laney; and brothers, Gary Blevins, parents Check and Eunice Blevins.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Amanda (Josh) Hunter and Daniel (Lindsey) Sims; and her great-grandchildren, Ada Hunter, Jael Hunter, and Kailee Hunter. Son in law Jeff Jones, nieces Janice(Greg) May, Tina(Gary) Anderson and nephew Wayne(Rosie) Laney and cousin Lynn Jones
