Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Glencoe Cumberland Presbyterian Church for Arvil "Pete" Peters, 85, of Hokes Bluff, who passed away Friday, Nov. 28, 2014. Bros. Rodney McGinnis and Wade Acton will officiate. Burial will be in Hokes Bluff Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of directing services.
Mr. Peters retired from U.S. Steel Gary Works in Gary, Ind., with 37 years of service. He played professional baseball in the minor league with the Birmingham Barons. He loved to garden and travel with his loving wife, Mary. He attended Glencoe Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Corrine Aderholt; daughter, Peggy Ann Mclean; parents, Grover and Myrtle Peters; brothers, G.C., Troy and Cecil Peters; and sister, Mildred Nolen.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary Frances Hodges Peters; daughters, Rhonda (Frank) Gonzales of Lake Station, Ind., and Janice Peters of Las Vegas, Nev.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Ruby (Bobby) Cranford, Mary Hawkins and Lois (Fred) Bergen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jarett Simmons, David Willard, Pat Vezertzis, Careyp Cranford, Ray St. John and Marion Dodd.

Visitation will be Tuesday from noon until the time of the service.
