Obituary

Arthur "Sammy" Watts, age 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 25, 2026.

A graveside service will be held at Crestwood Cemetery on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Jeff Little and Chance Cassidy will officiate the service.

Sammy was born on July 30, 1940, in Dallas, Texas, to Thomas Watts and Pauline Wright. He later made his home in Gadsden, Alabama, where he married the love of his life, Linda, and together they raised two daughters whom he loved with all his heart.

Sammy found his greatest joy in spending time with his family. Whether traveling together, sharing special moments at home, or simply enjoying the company of those he loved, family was always at the center of his life. He was an avid Alabama football fan, loved spending time fishing, and was affectionately known throughout the community as "Sammy the Plumber." For more than 40 years, he faithfully served his customers with dedication, kindness, and integrity, forming countless friendships along the way. Above all, Sammy treasured every moment spent with his beloved wife, Linda, and his entire family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Watts; daughters, Tammy Cassidy (Mark) and Tonya Watts; grandson, Chance Cassidy (Jordan); granddaughters, Paris Denson, Alexa Clayton (Neal), and Alabama Gaskill (Ethan Hawthorne); great-grandchildren, Case, Baylor, Kamyn, Macyn, Cassidy, and Indigo; as well as a host of cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Sammy was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Watts and Pauline Wright, and his great-grandparents, Colonel Arthur P. Watts and Lillie Watts.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. D. Echeverri, the first responders, and the staff of Gadsden Regional Medical Center Emergency Department for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Sammy and his family during their time of need.
