Funeral will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, September 5, 2015, at College Heights Baptist Church, for Annie Ruth Crosson Long, 66, of Gadsden, who died Tuesday, September 1st, 2015. Reverends Frank Samuels and Bert Cothran will officiate. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.
Mrs. Long was a Christian and longtime member of College Heights Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher. She served as the WMU Director for not only College Heights, but also for the EBA. Spontaneity was normal for her, "That sounds good, let's do it!" She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother to seven grandchildren and too many chosen grandchildren to count.
Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Freddie Long; and parents, Avery Thomas Crosson and Nellie June Brooks Crosson.
She is survived by her daughters, Allyson (Blake) Tyler, Karen (Stacy) Oliver, and Karla (Michael) Joiner; grandchildren, Kaylen Joiner, Savannah and Isabella Oliver, Chloe, Caylee, Will, and Anna Claire Tyler; siblings, Mac Crosson, George (Gale) Crosson, Mary Burdette, Joy (Harris) Wilks, and Jack (Rhonda) Crosson;Sister in-law Patricia Cannon, special grandchildren, Ethan Womack and Chandler Cothran; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousin and special friends.
Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be her Sunday School class members and friends.
The family will accept friends from 6-8 PM on Friday evening at Crestwood Funeral Home, and will also lie in state from 10 AM until the time of the service on Saturday at College Heights.
