Obituary

Memorial for A.C. "Buzz" Usry will be on the 3rd

day of June, 2022, at 4:00 p.m., at Macedonia
Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. Reverend Dewayne Boyd and Reverend Jeff Sauls will
officiate the service.
A.C. "Buzz" Usry died on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at the age of 84. He was beloved by his
children, family, friends and neighbors.
Buzz, as he was lovingly known by all, was born and raised in Coats Bend, Alabama, where he
tended his farm. You could see Buzz any time on his John Deere Tractor or dashing about in his Chevy
Pickup. He was always busy, but he always had time for family, friends and neighbors.
Buzz graduated from Gaston High School, where he then went on to join the Army and Army
Reserves.
After his military career, he went on to work for and retire from Republic Steele of Gadsden after
44 years of service.
Buzz was a life time member of Macedonia Baptist Church of Coats Bend.

Buzz married Lounell Starling in 1960. In their 33 years of marriage, they had three children,: Crista Watford, David Usry and Dawn McCain. Buzz was predeceased by Lounell in 1993.

Buzz remarried to Maudell Towe Chapman in 1994, where he became a stepfather to Mark
Chapman and Michelle Chapman.
Buzz loved being a "Dandy" to his grandchildren,: Amy Blom, Blake Suter, Dane Usry,
Jesse McCain, and Kadi Usry. As well as his great-grandchildren,: Skylar Blom, Jacob Blom, and
Emery Usry.
Buzz loved dogs, horses, children, walking in the woods along the Coosa River bank. He taught
his grandchildren his love of hunting and fishing.
Buzz was preceded in death by his parents Amos Cecil Usry and Evelyn Bobo Usry, his sister
Lois Usry and his brother-in-law E.L. Longshore.
He is survived by his wife Maudell Usry, Crista Watford (Arthur Watford), David Usry (Rhonda
Usry), Dawn McCain (Barry McCain), Amy Blom (Matt Blom), Blake Suter (Hannah Suter), Dane Usry
(Kristi Usry), Jesse McCain, and Kadi Usry. He is also survived by his sister June Longshore and his
nephew Dr. John Longshore.
He also leaves behind other relatives and many devoted friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Macedonia Baptist Church food bank.
Pallbearers are Blake Suter, Dane Usry, Jesse McCain, Matt Blom, Zack Daugherty, and Jeff
Mayben.
Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Hunt, Herman Jaggers, Hackie Jaggers, Edwin Usry, Billy Hall,
and David Lovell.
A very special thank you to Dr. Robert Foster, Dr. Christopher Baily, Dr. K.J. Shah, Dr. B.J.
Patel, the CCU nurses and staff at Riverview Regional Medical Center, the E.R. nurses and staff at
Riverview Regional Medical Center, as well as the Laboratory and Radiology staff at Riverview
Regional Medical Center.
