Funeral service for Amaretta H. Hare, 81, Glencoe, will be Wednesday, May 05, 2010 at 1 p.m., she returned to the resting arms of her Heavenly Father May 2, 2010. Rev. Vince Whittington and Dr. Robert Tant will officiate. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.
She was born and raised in Arab, Alabama and had previously resided in Gadsden and has resided in Glencoe for the past 40 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Glencoe and the Ready Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Hare was preceded in death by her infant daughter; Linda Gail Mummert, husband; Chauncey M. Mummert, parents; Homer D. and Vassie Horton, brothers; James and Early Horton, sisters; Erlene Horton and Archie Lee Slaton and stepdaughter; Angela Hare Adams.
She is survived by her husband, Leon Hare, Glencoe, daughters; Joan King Youmans (Tommy), Glencoe, Tammy Parkhill (Rick), Hiram, Georgia; son; John C. Mummert (Gail), Attalla, stepson; Pete Hare (Lynne) and Todd Hare (Annette) , Gadsden, brothers; Billy (Shirley) Horton, Eva, AL, Roger (Joy) Horton, Guntersville, sisters; Rena Kopp, Glencoe, Nina Brakefield, Birmingham, Judy Norton, Oregon, grandchildren; Paul (Bethany) Johnson, Boaz, Jeremy (Jill) King, Glencoe, Taylor and Dawson Parkhill, Hiram, GA, Marcus (Valerie) Mummert, Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, Vanessa (Michael) Morris, Melinda (Chris) Brandt, Attalla, Brittany (Drew) Lindsey, Jessica and Brandon Hare, Gadsden, 12 great- grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
The family would like to express their thanks to her special caregivers, Gladys Kendell and Christie Graham and the Alacare Hospice staff especially Christy Graham, Jessica Adcock and Jeanie Morrow.
Flowers will be accepted.
The family will receive friends and relatives Tonight from 6-8 at Crestwood Funeral Home.
