Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Crestwood Chapel for Alice Strickland, 74, of Gadsden, who died Jan. 2, 2013. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Strickland was a member of East Centre Church of God. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was ready to go be with her Jesus and her husband.

She was preceded in death by her husband, D.C. Strickland; mother and father; four children; and one grandchild.

She is survived by her sons, Charles Nobles, Dalton, Ga., Kenneth S. Avery (Freida), Gadsden, Leonard Wayne Strickland (Tammy), St. Claire, Mo., and Larry Strickland (Dixie), Parkersburg, W.Va.; daughters, Lisa York, Gadsden, Patricia Napier, Wayne, W.Va., Nelvin Allen (Scott), Vienna, W.Va., and Eva Payne (Allen) Bartlett, Ohio; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 11 brothers and sisters.

The family would like to express their special thanks to Landon Payne, her pride and joy; Etowah Home Health; Dr. Quilon; Dr. Goodman; Dr. Korn; and the nurses and staff of fifth towers at Riverview Regional Medical Center.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from noon until the hour of service.
